The Department of Public Relations and Information (DPRI) has released a new investigative report documenting killings and other serious human rights abuses against Rohingya refugees in the Cox’s Bazar refugee camps between 2019 and 2026.

The investigation documents more than 92 killings, along with cases found of abduction, arbitrary detention, threats, intimidation, extortion, and other abuses. According to DPRI, all the crimes of documented killings were committed by the so-called Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO/URDF).

The report also examines the 18 January 2023 attack on the No Man’s Land (Zero Point) Rohingya refugee settlement, which was carried out by RSO members and allied fighters. At least three Rohingya civilians were killed, including a pregnant woman, an elderly person with a disability, and a child, while many others were abducted and taken away from the settlement.

The attack was led and supported by senior RSO figures, including Mv. Fawzul Kobir (Abu Anos), Mv. Hamid Hossain (Shoaib), Rofique (Amar), Abdul Halim, Toki Ayub, Mr. Ayub, identified as the Chief of RSO, HF. Sawdul Amin, and Mohammed Noor, along with other senior RSO members. The settlement was subsequently burned and cleared, forcing thousands of Rohingya refugees to flee.

DPRI further identifies what it describes as a recurring effort to attribute RSO crimes to ARSA, creating a misleading account of violence inside the refugee camps.

The investigation is based on victim and family testimonies, interviews, photographs, videos, witness accounts, community information, and other supporting evidence. It records available information on victims and perpetrators, including organizational affiliations and, where established, individuals involved in directing or facilitating crimes.

DPRI calls on Bangladeshi authorities and relevant organizations to investigate the documented cases, identify those responsible, and ensure accountability without any discrimination and favor.
